FREE TRADE IN CENTRAL AMERICA ENFORCES LAND THEFT
PRESENTED BY CAROLINA DUTTON
Not since Cortez five centuries ago has there been such a land grab in Central America. So-called "Neo-Liberal" economics born of the Free Trade Agreements is all about robbing indigenous people of their land and resources on a scale that Cortez would envy. The "Neo-Liberal" conquest of southern Mexico and Central America is privatizing the land of indigenous, communitarian people living there today. The money economy being forced upon them is completely inimical to the traditions and the community structure that have distinguished these cultures. Zapatistas and other revolutionary communities struggle for autonomy against the gargantuan destructive forces of globalization.
