War Criminal Albright coming to Berkeley!

by Aaron S
Madeleine Albright, as Clinton's Secretary of State, helped maintain the embargo that -- by her own admission -- had killed half a million Iraqi children by 1996. When asked in a television she said that that embargo was "worth the price" of those deaths! This creep will be speaking at Cody's in Berkeley at 12:30 PM on February 11.
Cody's Books (i.e., Andy Ross' bookstore, not Fred Cody's) has not only invited world-class criminal Madeleine Albright to promote her book, but they have put a fawning bio and review in their calendar! (Get your barf bag ready and take a look at http://www.codysbooks.com/calendar/calendar2.jsp#albright!)

So she's going to be there, at Telegraph and Haste Streets in Berkeley, on Wednesday, February 11 at 12:30 PM. That gives us just 11 days to get a protest together that can make this visit of hers truly unforgettable!

Especially in this "election:" year, it's important to point out that while the republican adminstration has killed tens of tohousands of iraqis in a war of conquest, it was a democratic administrtion that slaughterd 1.5 million people in preparation for the oil grab.

Albright didn't blink when Leslie Stahl said 500,000 children had died. She didn't deny it. She simply said "We think the price is worth it."

Please come to this demo and please spread the word to others that this is important.

And don't miss the Daniel Pipes talk and protest less than 24 hours before at 145 Dwinelle Hall, Berkeley Campus. He is far more overt and honest about his position advocating violence against muslims and palestinians. Starhawk is in the room next door at the same time, so you could go see her afterwards 6pm tuesday.
-----------------------------
How is a change of heart achieved? It is achieved by an Israeli victory and a Palestinian defeat," Pipes continued. "The Palestinians need to be defeated even more than Israel needs to defeat them."

Why don't you just stay home, have some wine, relax, read a book. Leave her alone. She is not in power. Other people may want to hear what she has to say. (but then again, concern for other peoples' rights has never been a big issue to the sort of people who go to these tedious demos. Give it a rest.

Dave - It's an election year, and anything that can be done to show people that democrats are just as murderous as republicans shoudl be done.

Has bush killed 500,000 children in Iraq? Ms. Albright has. She doesnt deny it. She simply thinks "the price is worth it."

Let her speak? She has a nationwide book tour paid for by her publisher. (I suppose they think the price is worth it.) Her speech is not being suppressed. It our voice against genocide that is not being heard.

Let's face it -- you don't consider Iraqis to be human beings. If you did, you wouldn't have any problem with someone protesting the appearance of someone that considers the murder of 500.000 dead human being children "worth the price."

Please. Ms Albright did not murder half a million Iraqi kids. Saddam did that by ignoring the UN and its demands. The sanctions could have been stopped but he would not give in. Put the blame where it lies. I realize it hurts when you can't blame the US for everything, but deal with it.
by um
Which demands were those?

Didn't Iraq kick out weapons inspectors when it was found out that some were undercover US agents getting data for targeting?

Now we KNOW that Iraq wasnt producing weapons so while everyone admits the US did have spies on some of the inspection teams it now looks like that was the sole reason they didnt allow inspections and was the real reasons for the crazed sanctions. The sanctions did more than anything else to consolidate Saddam's power after the first Gulf War and by desroying civil society were a major factor in helping to build fundamentalists as Saddams main opponents guaranteeing the mess Iraq is in now.

When confronted with the facts, Ms. Albright didn't say "Saddam did it!!!!" -- She said "We think the price is worth it."

Furthermore, we can indeed blame the United Genocidal States, since they installed Saddam in the first place. Here's a brief explanation in video form, so that even a dolt like you can understand it.

http://www.bushflash.com/thanks.html

And, please, don't try to tell me the US supported Saddam because the US hated Iran. Your government was arming Iran as well, both under the Shah and under Khomeni -- remember a little thing called the Iran-Contra affair?

Ms. Albright said that her policy, which resulted in the death of 1.5 million people and 500,000 children, was "worth the price." Anyone that continues to believe that democrats will be a better alternative to the republicans needs to think about that. Hence, the protest.

Tell you what Davey, why don't YOU go drink yourself into oblivion that day. Apparently you feel that confronting anti-genocide activists on message forums is a better use of your time than confronting genocidal murderers. Repeating the nonsense you see on TV ("It was Saddam's fault! It was Saddam's Fault") doesn't cut it. Besides, shouldn't you be out there supporting Kerry or Bush?

Ms. Albright made the remark, now she has to live with it. In the bay area at least, she will be reminded of it. 500,000 children in Iraq didn't even have a chance.

The protest this evening against ultra-Zionist anti-Islamic bigot Daniel Pipes at UC Berkeley's Dwinelle Hall will be a good place to plan for the protest on Wednesday against Albright. The Pipes protest starts at 6:00 PM (he's scheduled to speak at 7:30), so we can have informal discussion of Albright while protesting Pipes and, perhaps, a more formal discussion afterwards.

It would be a great photo-op if a Peace activist welcomes the War Criminal Ms. "MAlbright" with an All-American Apple Pie in her face! That'll still be small retribution for the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi babies that her policies had murdered, but at least she won't be allowed to get away without having a "taste" of her sugar-coated rhetoric.
