Toxico Protest Pictures
Overall a good event.
The event went well. Cops were behaving themselves, not calling for dispersals, or even pretending to. By the time I left at 8 pm the arrests had not yet started, the helicopter was still flying, many cops were still blocking all the highway ramps, and many activists were still talking on the mic and interviewing people preparing for arrest. It was almost balmy out, with a full moon, and just windy enough to get the flags flying.

there is no reason to make disparaging comments about someone's weight- even if they're a cop.
Scapegoating anyone, including fat people, is out of order for any serious radical person. The police are simply the armed thugs of the capitalist class and should be avoided. That is all one has to say about the police, if that much. It would have been sufficient to end the description with what he was doing, namely filming the protest.
As to the weight non-issue, apparently some people, including news people on KPFA, are linking junk food to overweight. This is a lie. Everyone I know who is overweight does not eat and never has eaten junk food. Further, what this society defines as overweight is not overweight in other societies.
THE BIGGEST LIE is connecting overweight to a short lifespan. I know people who have lived almost 80 years who are considered overweight, and they never ate any junk food in their lives either. Junk food as we know it came into existence after World War 2, and especially in the 1960s, when all the prepared foods, TV dinners, and fast food restaurants became popular.
Anyone who has experienced hunger or who lives among people who have experienced hunger knows that the condition of overweight is often a reaction to the experience of hunger. This writer remembers Holocaust survivors, prisoners of war and survivors of poverty who had some overweight problems, although they all lived long, healthy lives.
The attack on the cop's weight, which is completely irrelevant to his actions or his reactionary role in society, is a sign that the writer has not experienced much life. None of the people I know who experienced hunger would ever attack anyone who was overweight.
I hope we do not have anymore scapegoating on this website. The fat issue is a non-existent issue. We all know what constitutes healthy eating, and that issue can be addressed in a different forum. The cop should simply be described by what he is doing and for whom, namely, the ruling class.
We have a lot of work to do; scapegoating anyone for any reason is out of order.

fatphobia is a huge problem, and radicals are guilty of it too. it's just another thing that we think is okay to exist. but it's not. it's the same as heterosexism and racism and xenophobia. and it needs to stop.
I'm sorry I mentioned the fatness of this cop - I recently had someone in my life DIE because of being overweight and I felt angry. I tried to post an apology after the first comment but the site was being attacked and it didn't go up.
Alright already. I apologize for ever being upset about anyone being fat and making any comments about it.

People are fat because of the bad eating habits we have. Eat healthier by lowering carbohydrates
There is a hint of irony in the 6th picture down, in that the row of civilians are paying the paychecks of the row opposing 'em
How about some anti-Dean material, I think the market for anti- Dean is growing
