Black Homeland Security Vehicles in DC - Soon, your community too?
Sinister display of "homeland security" in front of the White House yesterday. See link for full pictures.
In 1878, following the civil war, Congress passed the Posse Comitatus Act to prohibit the military from intervening in law enforcement. The statute embodied a long-standing principle in Anglo-American law that there should be a total separation of the military from civilian law enforcement.
In 1981 and 89, during the Reagan administration, Congress significantly gutted the Posse Comitatus Act – in the name of fighting the war on drugs. Following the Oklahoma City bombing, president Clinton proposed a further weakening of the Posse Comitatus Act. And following 9/11 another assault on this act is taking place, this time without restraint.
The Posse Comitatus Act is probably what kept the US from becoming a military dictatorship. But after 9/11 the new American motto is trade freedom for security. In a frenzy to allegedly "protect" the public, our illegitimate, un-elected government is making a mockery not only of the Bill of Rights, but of the Posse Comitatus Act as well. Needless to say, this isn't about protecting the American people from freedom-hating terrorist – as our idiot "president" pointed out so stupidly – but protecting the ruling elite from domestic and foreign opposition while they systematically ravage the planet and enslave people for profit.
Thursday in front of the White House we had a sneak preview of things to come. Apparently doing a demonstration of big brother surveillance technology were black Navy trucks with Homeland Security emblazonments. The Gestapo could hardly have come up with something more sinister looking. They were spotted around 1:30 PM on the west side of Lafayette Park, inside the pedestrians-only White House complex.
So what are those InfraLynx trucks? They are a product of the US Naval Research Laboratory. Officially, those are command and control centers with powerful communication capabilities - such as satellite links for two-way audio and video, computer networks, and even a private cellular network. But the official government web site http://www.infralynx.nrl.navy.mil is very vague about what else those trucks can do. There is no doubt that those trucks possess formidable surveillance capabilities with powerful remote cameras and directional microphones. Some can be seen on pictures. Computers onboard can then perform facial recognition, a technology that the military and the civilian security apparatus are keenly pursuing. And the computer communication capabilities of those trucks could allow direct access to huge databases full of personal information on citizens identified by facial recognition – such as the Total Awareness Program currently being developed by Iran-contra figure Admiral John Poindexter.
In short, and without any desire to sound alarmist, those trucks are powerful tools of a military/police state. Once they spot you, they know who you are, your political activities, places you've been, things you've bought, books you've read, even your medial records. A good police state tolerates no privacy.
And how long before those trucks start showing up in our neighborhoods? Not very long. They have already been used during the Salt Lake City Olympics, Super Bowl, and a few other occasions. The Navy is not shy promoting those services to law enforcement – in clear violation of the Posse Comitatus Act. Another government-sponsored/tolerated terrorist attack on the United States and you can bet trucks like these will be everywhere.
