Need witness-March 20 SF Protests at Fremont/101 Exit
Freedom of speech means nothing if the police can beat you for it!
During the SF protests on March 20 at the Fremont/101 Exit (at around 6:30 pm), I was beaten by a police officer after saying the simple words "peaceful protest". I was lying in the street for quite some time as I recovered from the beating and was able to eventually limp away.
To help prevent this from happening again, I am planning on persuing legal action. For this I need information!
I am looking for anyone who has any information about this incident. There were some people on 101 looking down while I was lying in the street and there was a very large crowd around during the incident. Does anyone have any information? A photograph of the beating or a witness who saw the beating or saw the police officer's badge would be particularly helpful. ANY information would be helpful.
This incident happened at the bottom of the Fremont/101 exit ramp at around 6:30 pm (I wasn't in the exit ramp, but was in the street). After being beaten, another protestor (thank god) pulled me away from the cops and held me while I recovered. There was another person laying in the street a bit away from me at the same time as I was laying in the street recovering.
Help me to keep the police from beating more peaceful protestors; if you have any information please contact me at peacefulcheryl [at] yahoo.com.
Also, if you suffered any police beating during the protests, contact me and perhaps we can form a class action or pool our resources and stories.

I saw many protesters getting beaten Thurs night at Fremont/101 off ramp (approx. 6:30pm). People were just trying to get out of the way. The police did not give 3 warnings and people did not have anywhere to go since the sidewalk was already filled with people. Women were trapped between cars and got beaten by the police. (If one of these women were you, I saw the whole thing happen) One man, who was dressed in a suit, crossed the road and got hit by 3-4 cops. I can't believe be had a smile on his face. They were obviously trying to prove their point. I was horrified and shocked by the police brutality. I filed a complaint with the Citizens Complaints office (they file complaints against the police) the next day. The person I spoke too was Steve Ball. The phone # is 415.597.7751. Unfortunately I didn't have any badge #'s since the police were mostly facing us and not showing the sides of their helmets. I might have a friend who got some pics, and I will know tomorrow night. I will contact you to let you know.
I encourage anyone and everyone to call 415.597.7751 to file complaints if you have been beaten by police of if you see someone get beaten. We can not stand for these inhuman acts of violence! some democracy we have...

i was there when this all happened. everything happened so fast it was really hard to tell what was going on. i saw one man being forced to the ground by officers and the cops were getting really violent trying to push everybody onto the sidewalk. i was trapped between a billy club and a light pole. one guy somehow ended up in the street again and an officer assaulted him by hitting him so hard that his club BROKE IN HALF and he had to get another one. i hope that whoever this guy is comes forward to file a complaint because it was beyond excessive.

Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures the actual beatings. Though I directly saw someone hit (this may have been you, I don't know), and they are shown on the ground in one of the pictures in the link above.
I also remember someone saying "peaceful protest", so I was probably quite close to you.
