Bicycling for Peace Friday all Day and Night
Bicycles continue to have a transformative
power, with mobility, legality, peturbations to the war machines here in the streets, and spreading the message of possible peace.

Thank you to everyone on bicycles...you saved us countless times today...i cannot even express how greatful i (and i'm sure countless others) am...keep it up...
The bicycle rides are perfect because they're allowed to be in the streets, it's a fundamental legal right under the vehicle code.
Right now police have declared near zero tolerance on any march in the streets.
On Day X bikes did a tremendous amount of support running from lockdown to lockdown and keeping mobile for many things. As your photos show, bikes did a lot of good today helping marchers.
Bikes can do a lot of good supporting people but the rides need to be smart about how they do things if they're going to avoid police repression or even worse, bringing repression to others. Tonight it was really awesome when a group of riders tagged alongside a group of sidewalk marchers flanked by a line of riot police. But it went on too long! Especially when it turned out that Deputy Chief R. Bruce was on the scene, looking super tweaked. The support, even though peaceful and well intended, probably made the cops tense and thus the sudden increase in numbers and the motorcycle platoon driving straight into the crowd of bikes and the wrong way on a one-way street. Stay out of trouble and stay mobile.
Today I have to wonder if the group really made a mistake getting too close to the marchers near City Hall, early on. When the police motorcycle crashed and police ran in for the "officer down" call -- all their own stupid fault of course -- bikes had gotten too close to the march and mixed in, probably slowing down the march and definitely losing our cohesion and mobility.
Marchers: also please try to respect the boundary with the bikes, we can better support each other that way. Nothing personal I march too. (smiley).
Other photos and a flyer for the daily rides are posted here:

Last night mass was meditative, peaceful, determined, connected...It was wonderful. Even as we sat, handcuffed on the curb, after having been surrounded by cops at Hyde/Market, I looked at my fellow bicyclists and realized that this is one of the best ways to protest the brutality of the past few days.
One quick request- for folks who need to drag newspaper racks, garbage cans, anything, into the street...please don't drag or drop anything without making sure a bicyclist isn't directly behind it. Someone ran out onto Ellis last night, and dropped a newspaper rack directly in front of me and I almost went over the handlebars. Be conscious of the different space that people inhabit, especially on mixed marches. Besos.
