sf was not shut down. you were shut down by the sfpd.
On Thursday of last week I even left a few minutes early expecting this slowdown I kept reading about. Nothing. And even less than nothing since. I just hop on the Bayshore Freeway and roll into town like I have for years.
In response to stewey and onemore:
This is actually an off-ramp to the Bay Bridge which was not shut down.
The "Shut Down" refers to various streets that were shut down throughout the day. SF wasn't completely shut down, though.
Its rather interesting that there are some many lurkers around here who make comments based on very little information or actually on-the-scene experience.
The fact that you claim that the SFPD shut down this particular part of the protest shows that you were not there. It was actually the CHP and the SFPD who "shut down" this part of the protest.
"Shut down" is a bit to strong a description, however, as uncontrolled pandemonium followed by an uneasy "peace" would be a better way to describe what actually happened.
