Deeply disappointed if the guy is wearing a mask (hard to tell, dark picture). Twenty years ago masks were associated with legitimate protest against the Shah and fear of reprisal. Today they are associated with suicide bombers and mass murderers. This is America, and no one needs a mask. The dramatic affectation serves to dramatize that the protestor -- like many protestors -- cannot be taken seriously. He either does not understand the issues or hides an additional agenda. Thank you for the forum.

Re: Don Teeter: deeply disappointed @ wearing masks March photo 3/19:
Dear Don, there is a reason people wear masks. Of course nobody has to wear them. Objectives of wearing masks are numerous; from symbolic affinities to an escalation of seriousness. Masks make many people uncomfortable; they accomplish something different from flowers painted on the cheeks. Contrary to not understanding the issues or hiding my agenda, I wear a mask to stress my particular insights and undermine efforts to twist my arms into complacency. I wear a mask because I understand all too well.

Another reason to wear a mask would be the extensive databases being accumulating by various law enforcement agencies. By covering your face you make it that much more difficult to be identified.
Futhermore, just like the coloring on zebras, you make it more difficult to target individuals.
