3/20/03 Freshwater tree-sit assaults continue
3/20/03 8:30 a.m. PL sends climbers up "Jerry" in the rain.
3/20/03 As of 8:30 a.m. there were several PL trucks, 10 or more Sheriff's vehicles and an ambulance at the base of "Jerry"- the tree Remedy occupied for nearly a year. She was taken down Monday night but the tree was immediately reoccupied. Because of this PL decided to girth two trees and cut one down over the last few days of attacks. In response ground support has circled each tree with as much junk as possible- chicken wire, metal object, tires, poles, etc. to slow the company's ability to girth or cut the trees. Last night there were numerous security guards on site- some of them seen drinking alcohol. Local residents and activists have been mobilizing for several days now and could use any more help that can be offered. Supplies are also needed. The company does not seem to care that it is raining today as it looked like they were prepared for a full day of extractions.
