On MLK's BDay, Stop police brutality against Oakland's black community! Demand Economic Development, Not Police Containment!

Within days of the Oakland City Council's vote to oppose the "U.S. PATRIOT ACT" the SF Chronicle released a story that Oakland Police Department is embarking in PATRIOT ACT activities against the African community!
The OPD has proclaimed it's "50 worst Oaklander's" list. This list will be kept secret from the public and target 50 Oaklanders for surviellance, police harrassment, police sweeps and who knows what worse! There can be no doubt the primary, if not all, victims of this list will be from the oppressed, poverty-striken, African community.
Allegedly to respond to the horrible outbreak of murders, most of them unsolved and in which the victim was African, the police attempt to violate the constitutional rights of Oakland residents. Why should we not suspect the police themselves for many of these murders? The Police have a long proven track record of wanton murder and brutality inside Oakland. For example, in April 2001, 6 murderous Oakland police beat one unarmed man, Jamil Muwwakkil, to death!
Right now, 4 police (one of which is a fugitive) stand trial in Oakland for false arrests, torture, falsification of reports and murder! These pigs have come to be known as the OAKLAND RIDERS! But that's just the tip of the iceberg! The Police curruption and abuse that allowed the Riders to flourish inside the OPD is alive and well!
We are calling on all friends of the African community to join us on Monday January 20th at 4pm at the Oakland Police Station! We will be non-violent, but we intend to stop the police from functioning as modern day slave catchers! We anticipate arrests!
This is an-anti war action on Martin Luther King's birthday! We must stop not only the war in Iraq, but on the African community! We can't defeat the PATRIOT ACT in Oakland, but turn our backs to the PATRIOT ACT in effect against the African community!

I think the thing to do now is to start contacting the OPD about these so called "50 worst Oaklander's" email or whatever, to start the ball rolling that we are watching.
Have they come out and said they're using the Patriot Act? That would be important. If they're trying to hide stuff, the more we can expose it, the better.

no, they aren't calling it that upfront. but having a secret list of 50 people to be spied on, harrassed, intimidated etc. should be understood as the "patriot act."

i think the powers-that-be are arrogantly assuming their will be a non-response to this, as the implication is that their targets will primarily be the black community, since they are saying its in response to the murders in oakland, and the targets will people with "criminal records." so they assume the political activists against the patriot act, who are mostly white, will not feel threatened by this and will let it slip.
hopefully they will be proven wrong.
it should also be exposed as terrorism, since any black male with a "criminal record" (which is at least 30%) will be terrorized by the idea he might be on the list. this will attempt prevent him from engaging in political activity, etc.
people should be outraged by this.
