The movie "DC Rave Scene Lives" is a response to the new anti-ecstasy ad campaign by "The Partnership for a Drug Free America". The piece points out that PSAs and language in recent legislation, concerning so called "drug-entertainment" or raves, focus only on one piece of the rave scene. The remainder of the scene -- built aroud DJs, promoters, artists, and club-goers -- is extremely important, and especially strong in the DC/MD dance community. In fact, the DC scene lives alongside the San Francisco scene as one of the most progressive scenes in America. The premise being that a rave scene is not about the drugs, but about a culture that's sprouting new roots from the underground to the mainstream.
