BUSH PROTEST IN STOCKTON ROCKS

Theres 5 million people in the Bay area and a whole 1000 drove 50 miles to protest. Now thats what I call a major disagreement with policy.

Lets all listen up! A whole 1000 people who are so much smarter and know so much more than the rest of us do have spoken on our behalf. We should all do what they say.

It's great that Medea got in (and another? glad to know she wasn't alone) and spoke out!

The Stockton protest might not have had any coverage at all (nationwide, as it has now) if Medea hadn't gotten in there.

I think some protests are nice for local networking and seeing everyone, and getting the word out in a local sort of way, that feel-good stuff. But this was a war criminal, this was a murderer, this is the man who is turning out country into a fascist state - and he had the nerve to come HERE???? That's why I've advocated more hardcore cd than waving signs - no matter how good they are, the actions will speak louder at this point. Of course we need them, of course we want to welcome people to our movement against him, but to make international news - to reach every viewer in the US on the evening news to show them we're saying no and they can too - incredible courage needs to come forth and take action, be it shouting in the middle of a sea of zombies and risking bodily harm, or staying and standing strong for 7 hours in downtown Portland, even after being soaked in pepper spray.

Thank you to the 1,000 peaceniks who were willing to travel to 90-degree Stockton on a weekday, when most of us are working, and many of us could not handle the 90-degree heat on any day. You were the delegates for the entire peace community of Northern California. I can assure you the ruling class understands this very well. They know that for every one person who could get to such a demonstration, there are thousands more who sympathize. They also know that VP Cheney was just in San Francisco a couple weeks ago and 500 people showed up at 8 a.m. on a weekday morning. We all know there would have been tens of th ousands if it had been an evening or weekend event.

Bush is traveling to where his base of support is, and that is far from the population centers, that is, far from the workingclass, who constitute the majority in any given population. It is labor that creates all wealth, and when labor withdraws its hand, nothing moves. What we need is a labor movement strong enough to conduct a one-day general strike when these anti-labor war criminals show up. KPFA reported t hat representatives of the ILWU showed up to protest. We need lots more labor representation at these demonstrations, the kind of labor people who oppose both the Democrats and Republicans.

fINALLY, FINALLY, fINALLY WE SEE SOME PROTESTS AND IT ---GASP!---mkaes the major newsmedia, which has been discreetly blocking out all protest action! Good job, fellas!!!

Jan 20th I was in DC to protest the commander-in-theif, along with gosh, at least 20-thousand of my fellow Americans. Guess what! We all got down to K street-----and met a row of masked, unsiling, baton-bearing riot pigs who would not let us through tot he motorcade site--in direct violation of freedom of expression and assembly. An OUTRAGE!! We continued the protesting where we could, and I got home,g rabbed the NY TIMES, and.......nothing. There was one one-inch photo on page 3 and other than that this MASSIVE protest was completely ignored. It was, in my opinion, one of the biggest scandals in the history of American journalism--a deliberate, treasonous blackout of information.

I am gratified that slowly, the media are coming to their senses and fanned by the flames of the Internet, the truth is finally getting out. Hallelujah!

I live in Stockton and I want to thank everyone for coming out and protesting. This is a small minded town for the most part and if it wasn't for most of you, there probably would have been barely any protest at all. You all put a great example for all of us who feel the same way out here put don't have the strength in numbers like out there.

Bush is in hiding from real Americans, the average person, the public who gets nothing, deserves more, the people who suffer while bush gets on with his wealthy, powerful, but are they really his friends, not to mention the corporate rulers of this nation and his bosses.

He hides behind the mainstream media, showing up on camera, but not in public. He is hidden from the public interests, while promoting his interests and the interests of his "friends," his superiors who own him, lock, stock, and oil. That people are not allowed to parade their dissent and opinions where they can be seen and heard by bush and his kind is a criminal violation of the U.S. Constitution, and that John Asscrotch, a.k.a. by many other names, is his attorney general and allowed to ignore the Constitution, in the so-called name of SECURITY, is a gross misrepresentation of democracy and the real needs of this nation. Bush and company are using and abusing the 9/11 event, using it as an excuse to get away with gross violations of civil rights of all of us, not just "terrorist suspects." All of us are in danger of the bush/asscrotch version of security "necessary" to the situation and the "war against terrorism." When will it all end? When people stop believing bush and corporate owned, ruled, censorsed and dominated mainstream media,and when the people get out of their complacency as if nothing outside of their world exists!

I acknowledge and praise all those brave prosters who face up to the bush goons, who shoot rubber bullets indiscriminately, who use pepper spray without reason nor conscience, and physically abuse the weak and others, without responsibility for their actions and who cowardly hide behind the law, the "Patriot Act" and "Security" to justify and get away with anything they do! Cowards they are, Americans they ain't. I read in THE NADER READER that "Knowledge Helps Citizens, Secrecy Helps Bureaucrats." Bush and his minions are the ultimate in bureaucrats and we are, as a nation, and the world, suffering for it...be it Cuba, Iraq and anywhere were the military and US foreign policy is in support of corporate policy.

We were on vacation and just happening to be in Portland the week that shrub was there. We were thrilled to have a chance to protest. We saw no protesters being unruly or violating any of the blockades. I was walking next to a man who carried a sign that said, "Veterans against Bush." He wore a crown and a robe. I asked why he was there and he stated that he did not fight in World War ll to have bush take away people's civil rights. TAnd Ashcroft? John Ashcroft? Probably the most dangerous man in the United States government right now. The U. S's own brand of dangerous fundamentalist dogma contained in one man who was even too nuts to be re-elected in Missouri. The man who spent how many thousands of dollars to cover some nude statues in the justice dept. Bush is a puppet, but he's too dumb to know it. He's got what he wants anyway, just a show. And Chaney, he's anotheredangerous one, cause he's not stupid. Let's do what we can to save the constitution, the environment. Power to the people. Right on!
