SF Landmark Produces First Play!

by Kitty Burns (kittyburns [at] earthlink.net)
The historical Haas-Lilienthal House is producing a play for the first time! They have chosen "A Slice of the Blarney," a comedy by a local playwright. The money collected will benefit the Haas-Lilienthal House.
"A Slice of the Blarney," a full-length play by Kitty Burns, a local playwright, is being produced at the Haas-Lilienthal House! This is the first play to be done at this San Francisco Museum, which is a beautiful Queen Anne-Style Victorian home built in 1886 by architect, Peter Schmidt. This home was featured on A & E's America's Castles in an episode called "Castles by the Bay!"

Because this is the first play ever done at the house, this production is a "test run" to see how well it works; therefore, there will only be 3 performances. The play appropriately opens on March 17, St. Patrick's Day, at 7:00 pm. The other 2 performances will be on Saturday, March 23, at 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Tickets are $20.00 each, and the money will be used to benefit the house.

"A Slice of the Blarney" is a comedy about a very wealthy Irish family. With the help of his doctor and maid, the father fakes his death to find out who in his "loving" family really deserves to inherit his fortune, when the time actually does come. His last request is for an authentic Irish wake, at which the deceased is present. This way, he can hear everything that is said about him. In Act Two, he gets his wish - sort of. This play premiered in 1999 with The Vagabond Players, an Equity company in Burbank. This is its San Francisco debut.

For reservations please call (415) 441-3000 x11. The house is located at 2007 Franklin Street, between Washington and Jackson Streets. Seating is limited, so please call soon!
