KPFA FM, 94.1

TODAY 1-2 pm on KPFA, Mike Ruppert's 2/21 talk at Fort Mason (edited). Hear Mike outline the crucial role that drug money plays as the cash flow for the world economy. He predicts a "summer of hell" for heroin now that Afghanistan's poppy fields have been replanted (US went in and put a stop to Taliban's outlawing of poppy growing just in time for November planting season ""The markets are in trouble, gotta get that money in the banks."). "Guns and Butter: the Economics of Politics", by KPFA’s Kellia Ramares and Bonnie Faulkner, will air a new program on Monday, Feb. 25 between 1 and 2 pm PST, during the fund drive. --If you can pledge a donation to KPFA during that time, Guns & Butter will get a boost in the struggle for programming airtime. It would be great if the show could be on regularly, and although lots of emails and phone calls requesting more of Guns and Butter have gone in to KPFA, nothing catches the attention of the powers that be like the ability to raise funds, especially with Pacifica in such financial distress. So please tell others to listen also and to consider a pledge. The new Feb. 25th show will feature excerpts from the talk that Mike Ruppert is going to give in SF on 2/21. Ruppert was the first guest on Guns & Butter, where he expressed a conviction that the CIA had foreknowledge of the 9-11 attack. Since then he has been presenting a case for this around the US and Canada, drawing large crowds and stirring much interest. Kellia and Bonnie will have video tapes of a similar talk Ruppert gave in Portland, available to listeners for $100 pledges. They ask anyone planning to pledge that amount during the drive, to do so during "Guns & Butter." (The video includes remarks by Reps. Cynthia McKinney and Barbara Lee.) Additionally, a 2-CD set of the first six "Guns and Butter" programs will be available for a $75 pledge; Ruppert video and CDs together for $150. Kellia says "Guns and Butter" is the only Pacifica program she knows about where the "unsolved crime" questions about 9-11 are being followed. Not in Northern or Central California? Listen to KPFA online: http://www.kpfa.org/ ----------------------- From the webpage for Guns and Butter: http://www.rise4news.net/GNB.html "Guns & Butter" investigates the relationships among capitalism, militarism and politics. Maintaining a progressive perspective in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks, "Guns & Butter: The Economics of Politics" reports on who wins and who loses when the economic resources of civil society are diverted toward global corporatization, war, and the furtherance of a national security state. (See the website for previous programs.) ------------------------
