Gov. Davis lies

by sequia sempervirens
The redwood image was taken in the summer 2001 on Maxxam/PL land. Governor Davis made a campaign pledge to end the cutting of ancient forests. He has failed to follow thru on his promise!

Since the Headwaters Scam went through in 1999, Maxxam/PL has targeted prime wildlife habitat and intends to cut all of the ancient trees within their land holdings. Recently, they even submitted a Timber Harvest Plan to CDF asking to log within the 50 year Marble Murrelet Conservation Area set aside groves. It's only been two years! After a half billion dollars and a Habitat Conversion Plan, when will it be enough? The ecosystems are being killed by ruthless corporate greed. The links provided are for informational purposes. Please take some sort of proactive action! These THP's can be stopped!

A small distinction, but important. If what you allege is true, it is a matter of the governor not keeping his pledge. This is different than lying. He can always re-affirm his committment to his pledge, which would mean that he did not lie, but instead vascilated.

Something else to consider: I have never seen the corporate media go after someone like they go after Gov. Davis. If nothing else, these ad hominem attacks make me wonder what the Governor is doing right to deserve this kind of treatment. If he were a corporate stooge (like most of the media, BTW), they would leave him alone. Remember all the grief they gave him for deploying the CA National Guard at the bridges? How come the Feds can put MORE FEDERAL POLICE and SOLDIERS in the airports (increasing their overall manpower and adding airports to federal jurisdiction) without ONE WORD of criticism from local media, but when Davis deploys the Guard in response to a possible threat, they jump down his throat? It makes me want to support Davis just because the corporate media bashes him.

Well, if you want to support that opportunist, pimp don't do so because of the "corporate media bashing". In fact, he's been rightly bashed all through his term by progressives and the alternative media for his idiotic and deadly policies. What you don't hear on the corporate news is how much in the pocket of the prison guards union he is and how he has (illegally in many respects) been a bigger detriment to prisoner's rights than any republican who preceeded him. I take the case of Charisse Shumate in particular, who was a terminally ill woman in prison for killing her abusive spouse. She was legally eligible for a compassionate release, but Davis decided that it was a much more crueler punishment to let her die warehoused in prison, away from her family.

Even before he was elected, he supported making it a felony (read: 3rd strike) to burn a flag and wanted random, mandatory searches of high school students and their property for drugs.

Oh, but there's his sell out to PG&E. And his support for the death penalty. And that stupid ass stunt of publically stating what was basically a lie about the threats to the bridges.

If you want to support a creep like that, then don't back up your arguments saying that the corporate media is out to get him. Davis' carreer rests on his own merits, and as such, should not be governor again and should be sent to prison for fraud. Then maybe he'll reap the fruit of his draconian policies.

I am aware of the case you site regarding not releasing the woman from prison. That is a tough call to make for anyone. Remember how Willie Horton came back to bite Dukakis in the ass? I'm sure the Republicans would have a field day with Davis releasing a convicted murderer. That should not be the bases for his decision, but I'm sure it affects it.

Isn't this something Bill Lochyer would handle? The Governor's office does not enact legislation or enforce laws. Seems like a red herring...

If you could reference articles to support your point, I would be very interested in seeing them. It's not that I believe Davis is above back-room dealing, but I like to see evidence before forming opinions about someone. So far, all I have seen is heresay...

Davis made the above statement at a Press Conference and then Sierra Pacific Industries and Maxxam made campaign contributions. Funny how he made the statement to garner votes and then when his money sources came knocking, he sold out the wildlife. See Peer's links to garner more information.

Tough call?

I knew that woman. It wasn't a tough call for anyone with a heart.

The man is a spineless coward who has no heart...and I saw Charisse die before my eyes and saw the effect it had on her children.

M0THERFUCKER! You want to blow off that? You don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

She fought not only for herself but for the rights of all seriously ill women and for the healthcare of all prisoners. She was the lead plaintiff in Shumate vs. Wilson, which Davis blew off and desecrated.

How dare you trivialize her work! How dare you trivialize the lives Gray Davis has stolen through his draconian prison policies?

You want examples? They are laid out in front of you everyday in the mainstream corporate news, which means the man isn't even above thier scruttiny. He's a straight up fink. A coward and an opportunist.

You want hard cold facts? Open your eyes. Do your research.

And have a nice day, you fucking paid off Davis ass licker.
