S29/30: Anti-Capitalist, Anti-War Protests in D.C.
IMF/World Bank/DC Protest
As the U.S. government augments its economic assault on the world with a global “war against terrorism,” the Anti-Capitalist Convergence in DC went ahead with a large march on Sat, 9/29 against the growing capitalist war. Read a report on police tactics during the day. The ACC states, “We demand that no more terror or violence be perpetrated in our name. We are a movement devoted to social justice. There is no justice to be found in retribution, war, racism, corporate globalization or capitalism itself. We condemn any and all retaliation and religious persecution of Arab, Arab American and Muslim peoples and we oppose any attack on our constitutional rights. We will not hand over our civil liberties to the greater good of the State.”
Activists dropped a banner in DC on Wed. And on Fri, police showed force and intimidation towards a Critical Mass ride, one officer states, “We’re gonna fuck you up tomorrow.” Complete coverage at DC Indymedia. Read Zoe's diary, and check out the SF-IMC Anti-War page for photos and updates.
