ON MAY NINETEENTH AT VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE ON THE CENTRAL CALIFORNIA COAST OPPONENTS OF PRESIDENT BUSH’S PROPOSED MISSILE DEFENSE PROGRAM HELD A RALLY AND CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE ACTION TO COMMEMORATE ARMED FORCES DAY. SOME TWENTY PEOPLE CROSSED THE LINE AND WALKED ABOUT HALF A BLOCK TO CONFRONT A LINE OF GUARDS STRETCHING ACROSS THE ROAD. FRUSTRATED AT BEING SO FAR FROM THE ACTION, A REPORTER FROM OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA, ON ASSIGNMENT FOR FREE SPEECH RADIO NEWS, JOINED THEM.
