OK, I'm not part of the indybay collective, *but*...the indymedia sites are for creating a not-for-profit alternative to the news and information monopolies, you know? This isn't very cool to do. Thanks.

I agree with phoenix that the message from Ed Harding is inapproprate. At this point we wouldn't even want it if you approached us wanting to pay to advertise on our site.

It would of course be appropriate for you to ask, and perhaps start a discussion.

Another agreement with Phoenix... In this season of conspicuous consumption, that last thing we need on a site dedicated to providing alternative news is a self-promotional sales pitch (particularly one which cites coupons to corporate entities such as Barnes & Noble and CD NOW). And to the possibility of soliciting paid advertising on Indymedia... well, that idea seems to contradict the very premise of our existence.

Thanks, y'all. Keep up the wonderful, amazing work!

Please take your SPAM elsewhere. It's doing you no good here.

Okay, so I guess at the next indybay collective meeting we need to decide on a consensus mechanism for pulling commercial posts, no matter how much empowerment they have to sell. It is pretty easy for those of us with database access to make this spam go away forever.

We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
