Day of Conscience for Darfur, Silent Vigil, Golden Gate Bridge, April 30, 2006 (1 of 3)
About 5,000 people stretched across the east side of the Golden Gate Bridge Sunday for a Silent Vigil in a "Day of Conscience for Darfur." The vigil and a later afternoon rally in the Presidio were intended to increase public awareness of the ongoing genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan and to bring pressure to bear on those responsible. Other rallies were held across the nation April 30th, with the largest of about 30,000 people in Washington D.C.
