Resist Grand Juries! Photos 1-25 Demo at Federal Building
Over 50 people gathered in front of San Francisco's Federal Building to stand in solidarity with activists who were called before a grand jury. The activists face jail time simply for exercising their constitutional right to remail silent before the government inquisition. Demonstrators demanded an end to to the FBI Witch Hunt and targeting of political movements.
Today's court appearances and demonstration at the Federal Building mark the latest chapter in an ongoing struggle against the Grand Jury system and the blatant targeting of organizers and activists by the FBI and the Federal Government. In this specific case, 10 people were served with subpoenas in spring 2005 and ordered to appear before a federal grand jury. The case represents an ongoing trend of harassment and intimidation of activists in the animal liberation movement.
An FBI Agent who identified herself as "Jenny" approached the demonstration and attempted to hand out "Wanted Posters." She was met with shouts and boos from the crowd.
