CAL SUPREMES WEIGH SF WINTER OF LOVE
In San Francisco, on Tuesday, May 25, starting at 9AM, the California Supreme Court will hear two hours of oral arguments about our recent "Winter of Love", in which SF city-county officials issued same-sex marriage licenses without state permission.
SaveFreedom asks law students, law clerks, and attorneys to attend this hearing (or the nearby overflow room), to take careful notes, and then to quickly post their reports and comments at the queer/LGBTI section of IndyBay.org
[ http://www.indybay.org/publish.php ]
Caveat: A courtroom ISN'T the right place to demonstrate your views. But if you want to merely hint at your sympathies,
you might wear black, pink/red, lavender/purple.....
Most laypersons should avoid the over-crowded courtroom itself. Instead we can watch more comfortably by video in the overflow room -- the lower-level auditorium of a state office building at 455 Golden Gate Avenue. Both the court building and the state building are in the Civic Center area of downtown SF. To get there, take BART or Muni to their Civic Center station (underneath Market St., near 8th St.).
