8/10 Hiroshima Commemoration on KPFA 94.1 FM

by Never Forgive, Never Forget
From the Holocaust to the firebombings of Dresden and Hamburg to the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima on August 6 and Nagasaki on August 9, 1945, the horrifying legacy of World War 2 remains as a reminder that we must put an end to war. KPFA recalls August 6, 1945 with a dramatization of John Hershey's classic book, "Hiroshima."

KPFA recalls August 6, 1945 with a dramatization of John Hershey's classic book, "Hiroshima."

Nuclear wars continue with the use by the US of depleted uranium, which must be banned. The World Socialist Website of 8/4/03 has done an excellent analysis of the deadly effects of the latest use of depleted uranium on US soldiers, and as we know from previous articles in many publications, depleted uranium from the first Persian Gulf Massacre killed thousands of Iraqis and Americans, permanently disabling 250,000 American soldiers. See http://www.wsws.org/articles/2003/aug2003/du-a04.shtml

This dramatization of Hershey's Hiroshima will take place on KPFA radio, 94.1 FM, August 10, 2003 from 7 to 10 p.m., starring Tyne Daly, Rocoe Lee Borwn, Ruby Dee, and includes rare Pacifica Radio archival audio.

LOS ANGELES (July 28)— Shigeko Sasamori, a 71-year old grandmother, and survivor of Hiroshima sits in the front row of the audience, her eyes closed, tears stream down the sides of her face as she listens to legendary actress Ruby Dee narrate a new radio adaptation of John Hersey's *Hiroshima*, an account of the atomic bombing told from the perspective of six survivors.
