"Power To Heal: Medicare and the Civil Rights Revolution" - Film Screening and Chat

Thursday, May 9, 2024 @ 5 PM - 7 PM PT (8 PM - 10 PM ET)

All are welcome who wish to join in this screening and conversation on
health care as a human right.

Hosted by Unitarian Universalists for a Just Economic Community
in partnership with Side With Love

"Power to Heal" tells a poignant chapter in the historic struggle to secure equal and adequate access to healthcare for all Americans. Central to the story is the tale of how a new national program, Medicare, was used to mount a dramatic, coordinated effort that desegregated thousands of hospitals across the country in a matter of months.

Through the voices of the men and women who experienced disparities and fought against them, POWER TO HEAL will introduce the audience to a missing link in the Civil Rights Movement -- a struggle over health care from a half-century ago that raises questions that resonate today: Is health care a human right? Must the federal government intervene to ensure equality?

Preregister for Zoom or connect via livestream: https://uujec.org/webinars

If the event Zoom or location is not here, then UU's for a Just Economic Community will be in touch by email letting you know how to get to the event.

Side With Love is a public advocacy campaign that seeks to harness love's power to stop oppression. It is sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Association and all are welcome to join.
