Eleventh Hour ICE Raids Resolution: Too Little Too Late?
The ICE program named *Return to Sender* has people asking, “are these human beings they are talking about, or sacks of mail?”
On October 20 immigrant rights activists appealed to the Palo Alto City Council for immediate passage of a resolution urging the US Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) to enforce laws in accordance with Constitutional protections against unreasonable searches and seizures.

Geographically Challenged Palin Screws Up in Burlingame, CA
Palin began her remarks at an appearance in San Mateo County, California by saying she was glad to be in Marin County. Her winks and waves have inspired San Franciscans and surrounding area residents to roast her with costumes and look-alike contests.

Protesters Greet Palin in San Francisco Style
Environmentalists in wolf costumes howled in pain while union members led chants from a flatbed truck. A Sarah Palin impersonator winked and vamped as protesters in Mad Men inspired 50's costumes sent the message "Sarah is setting back the clock on women's rights". Oh, and there's nothing like a giant missiled war machine with a mask wearing McCain inside to inspire the anti-war activists of San Francisco and surrounding cities!

Sunday: Palin Demo in Burlingame!
Public transportation: to get there from SF or South Bay take Caltrain and get off at BROADWAY (not Burlingame)
station. Caution...train does not always stop at Broadway so check schedules first!
From there you can walk or ride bike over pededstrian overpass over 101 to hotel. Not far at all! (maybe half a mile to three-quarters of a mile). Driving directions below....

Sarah Palin's Silicon Valley Affair
Republican VP candidate Palin's on-again, off-again trip to the San Francisco Bay Area is apparently ON AGAIN.
Protestors are making note of the date SUNDAY OCTOBER 5. Party-goers have been told to arrive early for the minimum $1,000 per person brunch that commences at 10:30am.
Republican spokespersons would only say that the location is "to be determined". Previously scheduled locations for this affair were in Woodside, then in Santa Clara. Both events were cancelled....

Tenant Describes Landlord Negligence
An East Palo Alto tenant describes safety issues resulting from landlord David Taran's negligence at apartments owned by his company, Page Mill Properties. While tenants suffer, the exchange of legal challenges continues between the City of East Palo Alto and the landlord. Recently the city obtained a court order to compel Page Mill to produce documents it has denied city attorneys in a case that has tenants and displacement watch observers eagerly awaiting an outcome.

Healthcare Workers Tell Stanford: We Vote Union!
Stanford Hospital workers voted 3-to-1 on September 11 to join SEIU United Healthcare Workers-West (SEIU-UHW). On July 31 workers were physically barred from delivering a letter to Stanford Hospital management after Stanford and Lucile Packard Hospitals abruptly withdrew recognition of their workers' union on July 29.
