Regional Water Board to Consider Logging Levels in Maxxam/Pacific Lumber's Impaired Waters
On Wednesday, March 16, the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board (NCRWQCB) will hold a public hearing in Santa Rosa to consider demands by Maxxam/Pacific Lumber Co. (PL) for authorization to conduct extensive logging in two of its severely fractured watersheds, Elk River and Freshwater Creek....

22 arrested this week at blockades protecting ancient forests
Reigning in a dark new era of wilderness destruction, the logging of "protected" old-growth reserves has begun at the Biscuit timber sale, atop Fiddler Mountain. 11 people, including a 72-year old womyn from rural Selma, Oregon was arrested on Monday. Another 11 were arrested on Wednesday, including one man who locked down to the rear axle of a police vehicle with a steel lockbox.
The logging takes place on areas set aside for protection of the northern spotted owl during the Clint...

Old Growth Reserve Logging Begins at Biscuit: 11 Arrested at Fiddler Timber Sale Blockade
John West of Silver Creek Logging Co. anticipated a fight over Fiddler Mountain. With 85 loggers ready to go, he expressed his intent to begin logging once a court mandate allowed controversial old growth reserve timber sales in the Biscuit Fire area to proceed. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals issued that mandate this morning, opening the fight West promised.
As dawn broke on the Green Bridge over the Illinois River near Selma this morning, 75 people gathered to block old growth reserve...
