Labor Day 2018: Election News

by Save Affordable Rental Housing
The November 6, 2018 election will be a watershed election when we can and must stop the destruction of affordable housing in California with Proposition 10 and in San Francisco with Proposition C. Vote by mail starts October 9, 2018, and anyone can vote by mail. If you are not registered to vote, you can do so now online at http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/voter-registration/ If you have moved, you must re-register.

There is now lots of information online. For the California propositions, pro and con, see http://vig.cdn.sos.ca.gov/2018/general/pdf/complete-vig.pdf or go first to http://voterguide.sos.ca.gov/
and

For San Francisco propositions, pro and con, see:

For Proposition 10, see

For Proposition C, see

If your party or election-oriented organization is not on the endorsement list for these 2 measures, tell the people in charge of your organization to endorse now. The success of these 2 propositions will depend on massive voter turnout of the workingclass, the 80% of Americans who sell our labor for less than $80,000 a year, a group that often does not vote. That needs to change now.

You can help save our homes with the San Francisco Tenants Union which does phone banking, precinct walking and similar other outreach activities. See
https://www.sftu.org/

With Vote by Mail starting just 4 weeks from now, the campaigns are all now in full swing. Proposition 10 will stop the phony evictions as we will finally have vacancy control. Proposition C will tax the wealthy corporations to house the homeless. Since there is now no affordable housing in San Francisco except for those of us who have been living in rent controlled units for at least 10 years, anyone could become homeless. We can and must look forward to a time when it is unthinkable to see people sleeping everywhere outside because there is no housing in the richest country in the world! Now is the time to get off the dime! Register to vote and remember to vote. If you sign up to be a permanent vote by mail voter, you will receive your ballot in the mail in every election about 30 days before election day so that you always remember to vote and can vote in the comfort of your home on any day, not just a Tuesday, the inconvenient and anti-labor election day in this country.
