Democrats Join Republicans to Give Trump $696 billion for War, More than Trump Requested

On Bastille Day, July 14, 2017, 117 Democrats and 227 Republicans in the House of Representatives joined to give Republican Pres. Trump $696 billion for the military, more than the $603 billion he asked for. HR 2810, on Roll Call 378, now goes to the Senate as the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018. Yet, only 114 Congresspeople have endorsed HR 676, Medicare for All. San Francisco’s Rep. Democrat Nancy Pelosi voted for the military budget but has failed to endorse HR 676.

Unlike France, whose revolution we celebrate on Bastille Day, the United States does not have socialized medicine and still has the death penalty. When it comes to medical care, our private profit medical system is the cause of the US having the highest infant mortality and lowest life expectancy in the industrialized world. The US is only first in producing military hardware because the greatest profits are in munitions and oil, the only reason the military exists, maximization of profit being the primary goal of the society in which we live, capitalism. We cannot have guns and butter; we need to transfer the entire military budget to the social services, education and healthcare budgets to guarantee free medical care to all who live here from cradle to grave, low cost or free housing to all, free education from nursery school to university, and free public transportation. The Democratic Party, including Rep. Nancy Pelosi, claim they are for “working families.” Considering they vote overwhelmingly for war abroad and private profit medical care at home, that must mean they support the murder of the families of the world abroad with the war machine and destruction of families at home due to lack of affordable healthcare.

It is the US military that is the terrorist of the world, promoting the worldwide American empire. It was the US military, with its junior partner and US military base known as Israel, which perpetrated the 9/11 Inside Job, obvious as such as it happened since there was no air defense, and if you need more, the controlled demolition of the Twin Towers and Building 7, which Building 7 was not hit by any plane, all falling in 10 seconds or less, in their own footprint, in small enough pieces to illegally cart away the evidence, which is what happened. It was a pretext for war and fascism, an American Reichstag Fire. Only the US capitalist class had the motive, means and opportunity to have its military carry out the 9/11 Inside Job on 9 /11/01. All of the military groups the US claims to be fighting against, and sometimes with, are all CIA creations. There are no coincidences and only the US capitalist class benefits from all of the bombings and massacres perpetrated by these groups. The US capitalist class had lost the pretext for its profiteering war machine of fighting communism with the CIA’s destruction of the Soviet Union in 1991, and 10 years later, had the US military carry out the 9/11 Inside Job to continue the existence of the war machine instead of providing the peace dividend that was rhetorically promised but never delivered.

There is no peace, and so far, no socialized medicine, from the twin parties of war and fascism, the Democrat-Republicans. We cannot have guns and butter and they clearly have opted for guns since war is profitable. If you want peace, socialized medicine, affordable housing free education for all, free or lost cost public transportation, you have to support the only 2 parties that have the same position: Peace & Freedom Party and the Green Party.
