Government Shut Down in the Wealthiest Country on Earth - Why?

Friday, October 11, 7pm
2969 Mission St., San Francisco

Why is the government shut down? Why have 800,000 federal workers been furloughed (i.e., laid off)? Because the Republican-led House of Representatives is outraged that 50 million people will have access to health care starting in 2014.

President Obama and the Democratic Party could have made an appeal in recent weeks for millions of people to go into the streets and protest against the imminent mass layoff of workers. But instead, they gave progressive-sounding speeches while cutting funding for programs that serve poor and working people in their own budget proposals.

Join this community forum to hear a socialist analysis of the government shutdown, the war on poor and working people, and how we can fight back.

2969 Calle Mission, San Francisco
