Occupy Forum with Renewable Energy Strategy Innovators from 350.org, Sierra Club & Clean Power SF at Global Exchange, Information, discussion & community!

Topic: Bringing on the Demise of Dirty Energy Corporations
& the Rise of a Sustainable Future

"Oil, coal and nuclear corporations are “Public Enemy #1” (Bill McKibben, 350.org) – they poison our bodies and our democracy, give rise to a huge military-industrial complex, and recklessly fuel the climate crisis, virtually unregulated by our government. There is abundant evidence that we have the means and the technology to replace fossil fuels and nuclear with a renewable energy infrastructure, yet Big Oil has a stranglehold over our economy, our media, and our government. It's time that we the people band together to confront and disarm the dirty energy monopoly and re-create a sustainable future.

Join us to hear about and discuss strategies that are in the works including the Sierra Club's “Beyond Oil” campaign from Michael Marx, 350.org's divestment from Big Oil nation-wide launch with Jessica Dervin-Ackerman, and the implementation of Clean PowerSF's community choice energy program and its current challenges (including a Royal Dutch Shell solar contract), from Jason Fried. We may also have a guest appearance from Amory Lovins’ Rocky Mountain Institute to describe how their vision to redesign everything necessary to make the switch to renewables is on-line and ready to go. Find out what is being done and join us in the struggle to put dirty energy corporations on notice that we will no longer permit them to wreck our planet, our democracy and our future.

Location: Global Exchange 2017 Mission St. 2nd floor, across from the 16th & Mission BART. A sign will be posted with a phone number to call for entry for those who arrive after 6:15. This is a smoke- and alcohol-free space. The last half hour will be reserved for Occupy Working Groups and Affinity Group announcements. Donations encouraged to cover our costs; no one turned away for lack of funds.
