On Saturday, October 20, ATA Gallery’s OTHER CINEMA hosts the West Coast launch of the NYU-produced Orphans in Space double-DVD set!

Local heroine Megan Prelinger celebrates the marvelous in 20th Century aerospace cinema, introducing these Forgotten Films from the Final Frontier. Dan Streible and Walter Forsberg co-produced this archival treasure, that revives 20th Century celluloid anomalies on space exploration. We'll be showing the best selection from the release, including Lillian Schwartz' 1971 Cosmos, offered here in glorious 3D thanks to the dimensional magic of ChromaDepth glasses!

PLUS the premiere of Aleksei Fedorchenko's First on the Moon, a recent Russian pseudo-doc feature mixing archival and live-action footage towards a faux history of Stalin's '30s space program!

ALSO Linda Scobie's Skydogs and Thad Povey's Cineroc.

Free Orphans in Space DVDs to the first 10 patrons, and toast 'n' jam for the late-comers.

Early show! Doors 7:30pm; Screening 8pm
$7.
