PSL Forum and discussion
Rob Williams and Black Power
in the film “Negros with Guns”
(53 mins., 2005)

Friday, February 24, 7pm
2969 Mission St., San Francisco

Join us for a screening of the film and a discussion about Rob Williams’ life and the struggle for Black Liberation.

Robert F. Williams (1925-1996) was among the most important and influential figures in the tradition of African American armed self-defense. He became famous around the world in 1958 for his involvement in the so-called “Kissing Case”, when he defended two young black boys who were jailed after kissing a white girl. He led a fight by African Americans in the 50s and 60s to defend themselves, with guns when necessary, from Ku Klux Klan terrorist violence. In 1961, he was framed by the FBI and falsely accused of kidnapping. He fled to exile in Cuba, where he ran the show “Radio Free Dixie”, and later in China until 1969.

The film provides a thought-provoking examination of Black radicalism and resistance and serves as a launching pad for the study of Black liberation philosophies.

Rob Williams y el Poder Negro
en la película “Negros Con Armas”
(53 min., 2005)

viernes, 24 de febrero, 7pm
2969 Calle Mission, San Francisco
