President, Laney College, Dr. Elnora Webb to speak on Monday, January 16, 2012 at McClymonds High School. 2607 Myrtle Street, Oakland, CA 94607. The “Make the Dream Real” event, the 14th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. celebration organized by Attitudinal Healing Connection, will take place from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, and it’s free to the public, a luncheon immediately following. The focus of this event is on equity in education and making the dream real for a quality education for all children.

The events’ mission is “…to be more than just a way of honoring Dr. King’s passionate vision; it has become a platform for moving his vision forward through building understanding, inspiring the community to work for justice and fostering harmony amongst communities in the Bay Area.” says, Dr. Mathew Fox, organizing committee member and internationally acclaimed theologian and author. The idea that “everyone can participate and bring change to Oakland by living the teaching of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. – being the change that they want to see in our communities” is the driving message Attitudinal Healing Connection (AHC) founders strive to realize in the community. AHC is a non-profit organization, founded in 1989, whose mission is to eliminate violence through creative and transformational educational programs – for adults and youth. (Visit http://www.ahc-oakland.org for more information.)
