Mission district has the greatest concentration of street art than any other neighborhood in the world. Susan Cervantes is responsible for over 400 collaborative community murals and is a pioneer of the San Francisco community mural art movement. She is the founder and director of Precita Eyes Muralists. Influenced by the Mujeres Muralistas, the first collaborative group of women muralists, Precita Eyes seeks to enrich and beautify urban environments and educate communities about the process and history of public mural art. Some of Cervantes’ murals considered some of the finest in the country include “Maestrapeace” SF Women’s Building; “New World Tree”, Mission Pool; and “Indigenous Eyes: War or Peace,” Balmy Alley.
