Sunday, September 18, 2011
Time:
12:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Event Type:

Location Details:
People’s Grocery Garden @ the California Hotel, 3501 San Pablo Ave (Garden is around the back at 35th and Chestnut)

Come support and learn about People’s Grocery’s California Hotel program! People’s Grocery is hosting a Fall Plant Sale to benefit our work cultivating a garden and a community at the historic California Hotel in West Oakland. The site is getting a fresh look in November so this will be the last opportunity to see the garden as it has been developed over the last two years.

Local herbalist and long time friend of People’s Grocery, Lori Camille from Nourish Naturally will speak about the uses and benefits of culinary herbs at 1:00 pm. The plant sale will feature a wide variety of annual fall vegetable starts, Mediterranean and Southeast Asian herbs as well as bay-friendly perennial “permaculture” vegetable starts. Profits from the plant sale directly benefit the California Hotel Urban Farm. The event is open to the public, entry is free, refreshments will be provided.
