Followed by discussion and video of Ron Kovic speaking at an anti-war protest against the Iraq War.

"Born on the Fourth of July" is a powerful true-life story of Ron Kovic, a Marine who became paralyzed in the Vietnam war in 1968 on his second tour. Through a painful process of self-awareness and the influence the Vietnam-veterans’ growing anti-war movement, Kovic became a militant spokesperson against the war.

This film provides a vital understanding of the transformation of a generation of young men who were caught in the horror of U.S. genocidal war and became its most convincing opponents. Directed by Oliver Stone; Starring Tom Cruise. 1989, 145 min.
