The Roll Up Lays Out the Cement Carpet for the Global Barrio

Come day drink and dance your ass off at The Barrio Planta Project's first Northern California fundraising effort!

Locally-owned and operated bicycle shop and event space The Roll Up provides the house for DJ Aware and Eddie Falcon to spin and spit Latin Fire!
...
Based in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, the Barrio Planta Project's dynamic founder Dyani Makous and Art Director Yaosca Jimenez left their busy schedules of providing free English classes, job training, art and extra curricular activities for residents and are now on a whirlwind fundraising tour to fix their badly damaged roof that threatens their project's survival.

"We've grown from 15 children to 200 students both young and old within a year and counting. There is nowhere else for our small town to hold such a center," says Makous. The Barrio Planta Project will also be participating in community art workshops in San Francisco to create partnerships with Latino community organizations. "We're thankful to have met such a responsive art and community empowerment scene in the Bay Area," muses Jimenez.

The Barrio Planta Project's inspiring community development initiative will also be exhibited in photographs taken by Jakub Okon, available for purchase. Proceeds go to The Barrio Planta Project.
