Press Conference: As Pelosi Meets With Bush Re Iraq Funding, Peace Activists at her Office Encourage Speaker to Stand Firm

Message to Pelosi: Bring the Troops Home in 2007

Wednesday, April 18, 2007 11:30am
San Francisco Federal Building, 450 Golden Gate Avenue

Speakers include:
Representative of Veterans for Peace, Ted Lewis of Progressive Democrats of America, Kathy Lipscomb of Labor Committee for Peace and Justice, member of Camp Pelosi, Nancy Mancias with CODEPINK Women for Peace, Jim Dorenkott with the San Francisco Green Party, David Hartsough and religious leader Father Louie Vitale.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi is scheduled to meet with President Bush at 2pm EST to discuss the war funding bill. We will gather to encourage her to keep a fixed timetable for the troop withdrawal. We will remind her that America doesn’t want Congress to buy Bush’s war. Simultaneously, peace activists in Washington DC will be at the White House with the same message for the Speaker.

The group will discuss their future plans to keep the heat on the Speaker, including the vigil at her home (Camp Pelosi), teach-ins at her office, and die-ins outside the Federal Building
