BE THE MEDIA presented by:

DAVID MATHISON: Publisher of BE THE MEDIA
RYANNE HODSON: Author of video vlogging books and vlogging websites.

Learn to make a difference by being "local grassroots media"!

BE THE MEDIA, the book, is an independent media encyclopedia written and compiled by David Mathison. Come hear David talk about the exciting dynamics of new independent media methods and learn how you can get in the game of grassroots media.

The goal of the book is to:
• Give you the tools you'll need to inexpensively create and widely distribute your content
• Promote positive social change by enabling people-powered, community-based, participatory media
• Support open, democratic media platforms that provide fair and equal access for all
• Reinvigorate the public domain by promoting Creative Commons

ALSO JOINING US: VIDEO-BLOGGER RYANNE HODSON co-author of the first published vlogging book, "The Secrets of Videoblogging" on Peachpit Press, started her career as a video editor at WGBH PBS Boston and in Boston public access television. From Delhi to Amsterdam to New York to San Francisco, Ryanne has taught diverse audiences the hows and whys of videoblogging. With co-creator Michael Verdi, she founded Freevlog.org and Node101.org the essential resources for teaching videoblogging online and in the classroom. Current projects include Swajana.com, a distributed videoblogging production with a team of creators in Pune, India.

Please, come join us for a potluck and informative town hall discussion. No time to prepare something for the potluck? Come anyway and learn how to be the media in Marin. Ample time for questions and answers are always permitted.
