The New Black Panther Party and its leader Attorney Malik Zulu Shabazz, representing the Millions More Movement, will spearhead an elite team of humanitarian aid and rescue forces into New Orleans to coordinate major relief supplies and hold a rally to confront the unequal and outright racist handling of this terrible crisis by Federal Government Officials.

Atty. Shabazz, Millions More Movement National Co-Convener, was scheduled to speak at two rallies on the east coast this weekend, but has cancelled all engagements to fly into Houston, Texas from Washington, D.C., where he will be met by forces of the New Black Panther Party from the Southeast Regional Headquarters, Dallas, Houston and some parts of Mississippi. This effort on behalf of the Panthers is fully supported by Minister Louis Farrakhan, Convener of the Millions More Movement (Million Man March 10yr Anniversary) and embodies the agenda of the Millions More Movement, to aid and assist black people who are suffering where ever they maybe in the world.

Black People are dying all throughout regions of New Orleans while President George W. Bush does nothing. Instead, Bush encourages a "zero tolerance policy for people breaking the law during a National Crisis." New Orleans is a national tragedy; The Federal Governments response has been incredibly weak and begs the question of race and socioeconomic status as a reason for the lax reaction to citizens. In three days approximately $9 million dollars has been raised most coming from independent sources and businesses, but in the Tsunami which killed thousands in Sri Lanka and other neighboring countries $30 million was raised in just three days.

In a statement from Chairman Shabazz about his reaction to this tragedy he said "How can the United States invade Iraq with ease, yet cannot deliver water and food and supplies to thousands of Black People trapped in New Orleans. This is developing into a tragedy of Biblical proportions because of the indifference of the Bush Administration/ Federal Government and Louisiana State Officials to poor Black People"

Media images of Black men, women and children dead, famished, homeless, weak, crippled, and the such have been shown all through out the world, yet the images of dead Caucasian soldiers dying in Iraq are hidden from the view of the American public. The Black residents of New Orleans are being criminalized by the media and the American government for attempting to survive, for they cannot look to those in power who have the ability to assist, but remain onlookers in a deliberate genocide.

The New Black Panther Party is coordinating for delivery 40 tons of relief supplies from Atlanta, Georgia, as well as coordinating the relief efforts from Black Radio stations through out the nation. The New Black Panther Party is going to make sure these supplies get through by any means necessary. We will not sit idly by and talk while our people are dying in this wretched condition.
