Court Strikes Down Environmental Review of Controversial Kern Water Bank
Dan Bacher
The California Sportfishing Protection Alliance, California Water Impact Network and Center for Biological Diversity issued the following news release regarding the ruling on their Monterey-Plus lawsuit. The court agreed with them that the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) failed to properly consider the environmental impacts of the operation of the Kern Water Bank. "We respectfully disagree with the court’s conclusion on aspects of the case involving amendments to the State Water Project’s long-term contracts and point out that the original Monterey lawsuit, which had previously vacated the EIR for the amendments to the long-term contracts, was finally decided at the appellate level," said Bill Jennings, Executive Director of the California Sportfishing Protection Alliance (CSPA).
